Still REALLY cold in the South Shore rivers (43F in the Jones right now). This means the runs will be slow to get started. This can be a very frustrating time for our volunteers. It's hard to stand in the cold drizzle with no chance of seeing a fish. But those zeroes are important data too and we need to be on our toes to catch the start of the run. It's a good time for pep talks and morale boosting activities!!

Middleborough was estimated at 741,000 (give or take 39,000) either way by John Sheppard, based on volunteer counts. Run was VERY late starting. We didn't see our first fish until April 1. It also seemed to taper off early, but was heavy in the middle. I'm surprised we had that many.

Middleborough was estimated at 561,538 (give or take 38,000) for 2016 either way by John Sheppard, based on volunteer counts. Run was VERY early this year, starting in late February. We had three distinct pushes, with the largest peak in mid April.
