Public Hearings on River Herring Bycatch - NEFMC

The New England Fishery Management Council will be holding a series of public hearings on Amendment 5 to the Sea Herring Fishery Management Plan.  A portion of the amendment addresses how to handle river herring bycatch in the sea herring fishery (more info at the Council website and in this summary).  Please consider attending a hearing or writing a letter.  The closest one for most Network participants will be March 27 in Plymouth.

New England Council staff will brief the public on the herring amendment prior to opening the hearing for public comments. The NEFMC Draft Amendment 5 document is available on the Council's website (www.nefmc.org/herring/index.html), or may be obtained by contacting the Council office at (978) 465-0492. The public hearing document will be available before the hearings and will be posted on our website when available.
